Job Description

Heartland Health Region has a number of locum opportunities available in the communities of Kindersley, Outlook, Biggar and Rosetown throughout the month of December and ongoing into the New Year. The coverage needed will include weekend Emergency Room as well as weekday clinic and Emergency Room.

Community/Facility Information

Kindersley is a town of approximately 5,000 people located 200 kilometres west of Saskatoon on Highway Number 7. The Kindersley and District Health Centre (District Hospital - Category A) has a total of 105 beds: 26 acute/program and 79 long term care/alternate level care. Services provided include acute, long term care, laboratory/x-ray/ ultrasound, emergency, community health services, public health, home care and mental health services.

Rosetown is a community of 2,500 people located approximately 100 kilometres west of Saskatoon along Highway Number 7 (approximately halfway between Kindersley and Saskatoon). The Rosetown and District Health Centre (Community Hospital - Category A) has a total of 75 beds: 21 acute and program care, 54 long term care. Services provided include acute, long term care, laboratory/x-ray, emergency, community health services, public health, home care and mental health services.

The community of Outlook, population 2,100, is located approximately 100 kilometres south of Saskatoon. The Outlook and District Health Centre (Community Hospital – Category A) has a total of 58 beds: 13 acute and program care, 45 long term care/alternate level care. Services provided include acute, long term care, laboratory/x-ray, emergency, community health services, public health, home care and mental health services.

The community of Biggar, population 2,500, is located approximately 100 kilometers west of Saskatoon. The Biggar and District Health Centre (Community Hospital – Category A) has a total of 69 beds: 15 acute/program and 54 long term care/alternate level care. Services provided include acute, long term care, laboratory, emergency, community health services, public health, home care and mental health services.

Job Benefits

Guaranteed benefits include: • Compensation rates ranging from $1,240-$1,360 per day. • Paid accommodations • Financial coverage for mileage and travel time • No overhead • A stipend for the Saskatchewan Medical Association’s (SMA) Rural Emergency Room Coverage Program (ERCP). Payment will be made on an hourly basis for weekday nights, weekends and statutory holidays

Job Qualifications

To be eligible you must hold certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or have successfully completed SIPPA and be eligible for a license to practice family medicine in Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate(s) will also have ALCS training.
